Grinding
The purpose of grinding is to polish surface materials on a gear or shaft blank through abrasion. Gear or shaft grinding is a critical step for gear/shaft finishing and particularly suitable for processing heat-treated workpieces with higher hardness.
There are two types of most common grinding process: centerless grinding and surface grinding. Centerless grinding is for removing materials from the outside diameter of a workpiece. Surface grinding is for producing a smooth finish on flat surfaces. This machining process helps improve the surface finish and the efficiency of a gear or a shaft.
